“What does that mean?” Naomi asked.
Before Ethan could answer, a sound came from the hallway.
Three sharp knocks.
Then the lights went out.
Lily’s voice suddenly came through Ethan’s phone on a live video call.
Not from upstairs.
Not from the suite.
From somewhere dark.
“Daddy?” she whispered, crying. “A man said Mommy left something for me.”
Ethan’s blood turned to ice.
The screen shook.
For half a second, a gray scarf appeared behind Lily.
Then Caleb Reed’s voice came through the speaker.
“Bring Sarah’s ledger to the old treatment center beneath the hotel,” he said. “Come alone, Mr. Vance.”
